A double bill of staged readings, presented by RCINY and The Immigrants' Theatre Project, celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the League of Professional Theatre Women
Join playwrights Vera Ion and Mihaela Michailov for an evening of readings co-presented by the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York and the Immigrants’ Theatre Project (ITP), starting 7 pm at RCINY. Mihaela Michailov’s FAMILY OFFLINE and Vera Ion’s YOUSHINE.YOUAREBEAUTIFUL will receive their U.S. Premiere as a double bill of staged readings, part of the readings series "Eastern European Playwrights: Women Write the New." A talkback with the playwrights and directors, moderated by Claudia La Rocco (founder and curator of The Performance Club) will follow the readings. The evening is also featured as The Performance Club’s May event. FAMILY OFFLINE is directed by Katrin Hilbe. YOUSHINE.YOUAREBEAUTIFUL is performed by playwright Vera Ion, under the direction of Marcy Arlin.
"Eastern European Playwrights: Women Write the New" is presented by ITP in collaboration with different cultural institutes in NYC and the League of Professional Theatre Women. Curated by ITP’s artistic director Marcy Arlin and director Gwynn MacDonald the series features throughout 2012 eight plays from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia.
