The National Museum of Art of Romania, together with the Cervantes Institute in Bucharest, will be presenting, starting on April 25th, the exhibition of Wilfredo Lam, titled Intimate Cartography. The opening of the exhibition will take place on Wednesday, 25th of April 2007, 18.00 hours, in the presence of Manuel Ismael Hermida Medina, Ambassador of Cuba in Bucharest.
It is the first Romanian exhibition of one of the most important and original Cuban artists, Wifredo Lam being famous worldwide for his style and creations, which mix the traditions of his country with eclectic European and African influences. The curators have chosen 68 compositions, ranging from drawings to engravings, watercolours and colages, depicting the changes in the artist's style, which passed from Cubism to Surrealism.
The exhibition is being organised together with the Centre for Contemporary Art Wifredo Lam in Havana.
