The fascination for drawing played a key role in Vincent van Gogh's career, as the artist firmly believed that only by truly mastering this difficult skill one could call himself a true artist, able to stand the test of time. Van Gogh drew relentlessly, every day, trying to capture what was important for him in the world around.
The Kroller-Muller Museum in Otterlo, Netherlands, will be presenting a sellection from van Gogh's drawings and sketches, starting on October 11 2007, with the intriguing title "The Riddle of the "Double Ingres" - Sketches and Studies by Vincent van Gogh". Also, the museum will publish a catalogue of all the drawings by Vincent van Gogh it it's collection.
The curators have already chosen fifty of the best drawings, that will offer an impressive retrospective of van Gogh's creative phases, subjects and techniques, highlighting one of the most important parts of the Dutch master's creation.
