Vadu Crisului is a village in the eastern Bihor county, Romania.
The village is located at the exit of the Crisului Repede from the gorge. The toponym Vad, both in omanian and Hungarian languages, means the place from a river's bed where the shore is shallow and the water is not deep allowing anyone to cross from a bank to another.
Vadu Crisului marks also the southeastern of the Vadului depression, the depression gulf between "munceii" Craiului Mountains and the Plopisului Mountains that is named like the village. It is also the largest from this area.
The most common rock that you will find in these parts of Romania is limestone. The routes are equiped for climbing and there are lots of aid routes marqued for those who want to walk in this natural area full of history and beauty.
Here you can see also the Vadu Crisului waterfall, in the gorge Suncuius - Vadu Crisului, on the river Crisul Repede, near the Vadu Crisului cave.
This cave is impressive. It's 9 meters high and the sudden collapse of the water that flows from the cave to Crisului Repede waters is absolutely stunning. This waterfall can be seen from the train near the Pestera station on the Oradea - Cluj Napoca line.
