The online fashion Digital Collection at the Chicago History Museum presents 1,382 digital images, that means almost 400 costumes, accessories, drawings including all costume materials exhibited in the museum’s Charles James, Dior, Bertha Palmer and Chic Chicago.
The Digital Collection also includes garments by Gianni Versace, Christian Dior, Charles James and Cristóbal Balenciaga. , the website also features videos of CT scans of garments constructed by designer Charles James and 103 sketches by James’ illustrator Antonio Lopez.
Students, researchers or designers can access anytime the significant fashion resource and a rich source of historical information. They can also find out who wore a dress, who designed it, and its relationship to fashion history and Chicago history.
