"The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton." With this official press release, Clarence House announced that Prince William, second in line to the throne, will marry Kate Middelton.
Catherine Middleton grew up in Chapel Row at Bucklebury in England. She studied in Scotland at the University of St. Andrews. She met here Prince William. They started 2001 a relation based on love and friendship.
Once their relationship became public, Catherine received widespread media attention and there was much speculation that she and William would eventually marry. Prince William and Catherine Middleton became engaged in October 2010 in Kenya, during a 10-day trip. Their engagement was announced on 16 November 2010, and they married on 29 April 2011 at Westminster Abbey.
Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, the eldest son of Charles, Prince of Wales, and the late Diana, Princess of Wales is second in line to the thrones of the sixteen Commonwealth realms.
Out of 1900 guests invited at the wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey, around 300 guests have joined the first Royal couple at the post-wedding party. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had reportedly had their first dance to Elton John song, “Your Song”, a favorite song of the late Princess Diana.
