The tower, a strong stone and brick building, impresses by its height and massiveness. It is also distinguish by the unique balconies and windows.
The tower was built to supply with water the Arad town from Romania, rapidly growing in 1826, when the tower was built.
Also it was built for the fire interventions, to ease the work of the firemen.
In the year 1826 the municipality administration decided to realise this project for village life. Today this building is known as the "water tower". In that area there was an establishment of the civilian volunteer fire unit from Arad county in 1835.
Also, near this building thbere is the Chapel of St. Florian, the protector of firefighters.
