The Red Church, also known as the Evangelical Church, is an outstanding monument from Arad County, Romania.
The name Red Church comes from the outside finish made from polished brick.
The construction of this historical monument started in March 1905. The architectural plans were made by the architect Ludovic Szanta. He is known as the autor of this architectonic monument.
The construction was built in the Gothic style and the materials used were stone, brick and concrete.
The main tower has a height of 46 meters, the shrine is a real art work in the Gothic style. The pulpit was executed by Orr Gyorgy from Kosice, a great sculptor.
The paintings from the shrine were made after a theme. This theme is "The Prayer of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane" and was executed by the painter I. Umlauf, in 1848.
