The Jewish Daily Forward is one of the most important publications of the American Jewish community. It's first issue was published in 1897 and since then the newspaper, edited in English and Yiddish, has slowly become one of the best Jewish newspapers outside of Israel. In the past the newspaper was so popular that it even managed to acquire a share of readers that most likely was similar to the prestigious New York Times.
The history and evolution of this important paper is presented at the Museum of the City of New York in an impressive exhibition, titled "The Jewish Daily Forward: Embracing an Immigrant Community", which retraces the fascinating and often hard to believe story of the paper. This time, the curators have chosen to present this newspaper in light of it's role in the life of the Jewish community in New York, at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. This show, which also marks the 110th anniversary of the paper, reunites photographs, documents and various issues of the Jewish Daily Forward.
