The International Painting Salon Carbunari 2009

Art. I

FLOREAN MUSEUM organizes the third edition of the

International Painting Salon in September 2009.

The purpose of this salon is to promote and support

contemporary art.

The Salon is a contest endowed with substantial prizes

that are granted by a qualified jury.

Art. II

The Salon is open for all the artists around the world.

There are no restrictions and no preliminary selection as

we believe that any interference with the artist’s work

including a preselection constitutes an act of censorship, an

act against the free development of art. The only one who can

decide which works will be exhibited is the artist himself and

the jury will deliberate the awarding of prizes.

One can participate with an unlimited number of works

but in order to take part in the prizes awarding contest, there

must be exhibited at least 2 works. The artists who will

participate with minimum 30 works, will benefit of one self

exhibition hall for the exposure.

In order to have an objective judgement on the artistic

quality, the jury recommends paintings in large dimensions.

Any painting technique or dimension, no matter the

support, is being accepted.

In order to offer the artists the chance to introduce works

that represent their creation best, the contest is theme free.

Art. III

The Ist prize - 5.000 $;

The IInd prize - 3.500 $;

The IIIrd prize - 2.000 $;

The works of the winning artists become the property of

the Florean Museum.

Art. IV

In order to participate, every artist has to pay a 100$ fee or

to donate one of the works sent to the Salon. The work will be

chosen by the organizers. The attendance fee will be sent in

the following account:

This fee represents a symbolic sum used to cover the

expenses related to the process of taking photographs of the

works and the preparation for their insertion on the Museum

web site.

The rest of expenses connected to the Salon organization:

poster, publicity, guests, jury, prizes will be on the Florean

Museum expense.

The framed works together with the artists’ CV and a CD

with a collection of 10-20 paintings from participants’

portfolio shall be sent on the artists’ expense at the address:

in attention of Mr. Mircea Bochis,

until 1st of August, 2009. Please mention on the package “NO

COMMERCIAL VALUE – ONLY FOR CULTURAL

PURPOSES”.

The works are being returned on the artists’ expense no

later than 30 days from the closing date of the Salon. After the

end of the exhibition, the artists who want their works back,

should get in touch with Mr. Mircea Bochis (the curator of the

Salon): mirceabochis@adslexpress.ro, in order to establish the

costs for returning the works. The works that was not taken or

solicited by the artist within 45 days from the end of the

exhibition become the museum’s property. The artists can

choose to donate all the participant works to the Museum.

These works will enter the Florean Museum contemporary art

collections and become for the public a point of reference for

the contemporary art.

Art. V

All participant works will be published on the Florean

Museum site at: http://www.cmc.ro. The works that have

entered the Florean Museum Contemporary art collection will

be itinerated in Romania and abroad, in the frames of the

Cultural Exchanges Program taking place between Florean

Museum and similar cultural institutions, as contemporary art

exhibitions.

The Salon will be open in Baia Mare at the Florean

Museum on the 5th of September 2009.

The vernisage is to be held by the art critic Pavel Susara on the 5th of September 2009 at 12 o’clock. There will be assured

strong advertising of the event in the specialized press and

mass media.

Participating at the Salon implies the artist’s acceptance of
