The International Biennial Pastel Exhibition is a contest open to professional artists from Poland and abroad. The objective of the contest is to present contemporary potential of artistic creation using this painting technique as well as to compare creative output of artists from various countries and cultures.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. The contest is open to professional artists from Poland and abroad as well as to students of final year at Art Academies.
2. Each artist may submit three of his/her own works to the contest (diptychs, triptychs etc. excluded) created between 2004- 2006
that have not been displayed or awarded to date.
3. Eligible entries will be executed in pastel technique on a plane and will be two-dimensional (collage and mixed techniques
excluded). The entries, including passepartout in neutral colours (grey, cream or white) must not exceed 100x70cmor 50x70cmin
dimension.
IN ORDER TO ENTER THE CONTEST, ENTRANTS SHOULD:
4. Make a payment of a non-refundable contest participation fee in the amount of EURO 30 or PLN 120. Members of the
Association of Polish Pastellists pay the amount of EURO 60 or PLN 60, provided that they do not have any membership
fees overdue.

5. Send a legibly completed and signed Registration Form together with a photocopy of the payment receipt and three
coloured photographs of the entries, 13x18 cm in dimension, printed on glossy, smooth paper, with the following
information on the reverse: the entrant's name and surname, title of the entry, date of creation, dimension.
The photographic material may be supplemented by an electronic version recorded on a CD (TIFF, JPG).
Note: The organisers do not return the submitted materials, which are incorporated into the contest's documentation.
SELECTION OF WINNERS:
6. A five person Qualifying Committee will select the entries on the basis of their photographs to be presented at the contest
exhibition.
7. The Contest winners will be selected by an international Jury, consisting of five persons, upon viewing the original entries.
8. The decisions of the Qualifying Committee and the Jury are final and indisputable.
THE CONTEST SCHEDULE:
9 The completed Registration Form together with the payment receipt and three photographs of the entries must be submitted. byMay30, 2006.
10. By June 30, 2006 the artists will be informed in writing about the decision of the Qualifying Committee. The list of participants of the contest exhibition will also be posted in the Internet at: www.biennalepasteli.mnet.pl
11. By July 30, 2006, the selected entries must be sent without frames or glass with a label glued (name and surname, title of the work, date of creation, dimensions, price). The entries should be well-protected against damage.
12. On October 27, 2006 at 6.00 p.m., the results of the contest will be announced and winners will be granted awards during an official opening of the 3rd International Biennial Pastel Exhibition at the Gallery of the Matopolska Art Exhibition Office in Nowy Sacz at Szwedzka 2. The list of winning Contest entrants will be posted in the Internet at: www.biennalepasteli.mnet.pl
13. Until the end of 2007, the organisers reserve the right to keep the exhibition at their disposal for presentation at other Galleries in Poland and abroad. After this date, the entries may be collected personally or will be sent back to the address listed in the Registration Form at the organisers' cost.
CONCLUDING INFORMATION:
14. The authors bear the costs of delivery and insurance of the entries for the duration of their transportation.
15. Organisers are not liable for any damages or loss of the entries during transportation.
16. The post-contest exhibition will be presented in uniform frames provided by the organisers.
17. Organisers reserve the right to publicise the submitted entries and the photographs in mass media and to produce documentation
in form of bulletins, catalogues, video tapes and films for promotional purposes without paying copyright fees.
18. The winning works (1 work) remain the property of the organisers. This rule does not apply to works which received rewards
of honour.
19. The organisers plan to publish a catalogue with reproductions of the entries selected for the exhibition. Each entrant shall receive
one free copy of the catalogue and a poster.
20. All information about shows of the Biennial Pastel Exhibition will be posted in the Internet.
21. Anybreach of the above rules and regulations will provide the basis for exclusion from the contest.
