The Dacian fortresses from the Orastie Mountains, Sarmizegetusa, Costesti Cetatuia, Costesti Blidaru Luncani - Stone Red Capalna, Banita were included in 1999 in the UNESCO patrimony.

These fortresses are located in Alba and Hunedoara counties. Thy resist over time remarkably at the "border between the Latin culture of Central Europe and Orthodox culture in South East Europe".
The Dacian sanctuaries from Sarmisegetusa Regia show us the solar cult from the first century AD.
The great pyramids from Egipt, from the King's Valley, were built after the form of the constelation named Orion and were interpretated as a map of the sky that calculates the astral events. The Sarmisegetusa sanctuaries are believed to have or had a similar general role, being a huge calendar that reflected the advanced knowledge to the Dacians.
The big shrine is circular and has a diameter of 29,40 meters. The 180 pillars of andesite are narrow at represent days. The other grade pillars are the days of a month. The way the pillars were sit shows that the moths were divided in five periods of six days. The research concluded that the dacic year has 12 months of 30 days.
Besides the big shrine, there is a smaller one and other five, quadrilaterals, one being of an impressive dimension.
