The Corvin Castle was built in the fifteenth century by Iancu Hunedoara, in the site of an old fortification, on a rock at which bottomflows the river Zlasti.
The castle is an imposing building with high and collored towers, windows and balconies adorned in stone laces. It was restored not long ago and was transformed into a museum.
Being one of the most largest and famous properties of Iancu of Hunedoara, the castle passed through important transformations. The castle became a big sumptuous place to stay, not only a reinforced strategig point.
Over the years the masters of the castle modified its look, enriching it with towers, halls and guest roms. The gallery and tower - the last tower of defence (tower "Ne boisa"-don't be afraid), unchanged from the time of Iancu of Hunedoara and the Tower Capistrano (named after the name of Ioan de Capistrano, a famous monk from the castle court), are a few of the most semnificative parts of the construction.
Also there can be remembered the Knights Hall (a big reception hall), The Clubs Tower, the White Bastion which served as food storage and the Diet Hall with medalions painted on the walls (among them there are the portraits of Matei Basarab and Vasile Lupu, the rulers of Romanian Country and Moldova) .
In the Matia wing of the Corvin Castle, vague it discerns a painting who refers to the raven legend sayng that all the descendants of Iancu of Hunedoara are named by this raven.
To get to this magnificent castle you can follow the road to Deva, a municipality of Hunedoara county in Romania.
