- One of the most representative monuments of Romanesque style in Transylvania, also one of the oldest in this area is the Cisnadioara Fortress.
Beside this building was a fortified church of the citadel which was first attested in 1223, then was donated by the Magister Goulinus to the Cistercian monastery .
Situated atop the rocky hill of St. Michael from Cisnadioara, the fortified church is a building constructed entirely of stone, basilical type with three ships and a rectangular plan.
Due to its positioning on a very narrow plateau in the east-west direction, the fortified church is developed more in width than in length. It has very narrow vessels and includes a single enclosure surrounded by stone walls, measuring over six meters in width
