Bran Castle
Transylvania, Romanian region located in the central part and in north-west of the country, has a great relief : beautifull mountains, the Transylvanian plateau and plain.
There is Brasov city, at the foot of the mountain Tampa (967 m). Here the visitors can see The Black Church, the largest Gothic building in southeastern Europe, built in 1477, the old city walls with towers and bastions of defense, recently renovated, the Old Market House or St. Bartholomews’s Church, in Romanesque style.
At a distance of 27 km of Brasov is located Bran village. There is the Bran Castle, attested since 1377. The castle is built on top of rocks and it is believed that Jules Verne told about it in his book The Carpathian Castle, Americans naming it Dracula's Castle. Bran and Moeciu, settlement in nearby, have very beautifull landscape.
A visitor must see Medias, an ancient city, over seven centuries old, attested documentary of 1267. Named in Latin Civitas Mediensis, preserves traces of the past, 17 towers and bastions, high over 7 feet. The center of the city is a really open air museum.
Valchid is also a settlement would not be missed. There is a Gothic fortress with impressive fortified towers.
