Caru 'cu Bere ( The Beer Cart ) is a living legend for Bucharest and one of the oldest tavern in the city, dating from 1879 in the old Zlatari Inn and after 20 years moved on Stavropoleus street, where there is today.
Nicolae Mircea, from Medias City, made the entire history of The Beer Cart.
The atmosphere is full of tradition. The murals, stained glass, carved banisters enrich and beautify the entire decor. Old Man Ghita is a symbol, the cellarman, a figure which guards one part of interior. Old Man Ghita worked here a few decades and many times went down in the basement plenty of the beer barells.
The Beer Cart had many important guests, including Romanian writers as: George Cosbuc, Octavian Goga, I.L. Caragiale.
It is famous not only for the beer made by a secret originally recipe, but also tasty culinary specialties.
Today The Beer Cart continues the tradition. Walking on Calea Victoriei (Victory Way), near the National Museum of History, meet a picturesque building, which you can read the inscription Caru cu Bere ( The Beer Cart)
The Beer Cart there is in the historic quarter of Bucharest, where the prince Vlad Tepes ( Dracula) built a citadel in the fifteenth century. You can see in this area the Old Court Churh, the oldest church in the city (1546).
