Celebrating Art with a Brilliant Start into the Autumn Season: the 10th ART FORUM BERLIN

The 10th ART FORUM BERLIN keeps up with its tradition exhibiting the most energetic and captivating art of today.

The 10th ART FORUM BERLIN 2005 will again take place in the elegant daylight halls 18 to 20 at the Berlin Fairgrounds, offering ideal conditions for its trendsetting hallmarks: Extraordinary stand concepts, exclusively artists' conceived lounges and for the second time, a special exhibition. Susanne Titz, Director of Museum Abteiberg, Moenchengladbach, has been appointed to curate "TEMPORARY IMPORT- DAAD, Bethanien et. al.", dedicated to artists from abroad who have been artists-in-residence in Berlin for at least six month in the past ten years or are still living and working in the city. Works of up to 40 artists will be shown in a new and luxurious setting, a daylight hall adjacent to the regular alphabetical circuit of the fair.

110 international galleries will present a concise overview of fresh contemporary art and point out that ART FORUM BERLIN is a must for everyone who wishes to keep abreast with current artistic developments. The power wheel in Berlin's thrilling and constantly growing art scene, the fair this year will take place from September 29 to October 3, 2005, opening on September 28, 2005.

During ART FORUM BERLIN, the city will be brimming with exciting exhibitions such as the second exhibition of the renowned Friedrich Christian Flick Collection, one of Europe's largest private collections of modern and contemporary art at the Rieck-Halls of Berlin's Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum of Contemporary Art which also holds solo exhibitions of Shirin Neshat as well as Bernd and Hilla Becher and the exhibition of the short-list artists for the highly endowed Prize of the Nationalgalerie for Young Art: John Bock, Monica Bonvicini, Angela Bulloch and Anri Sala. The Prize will be awarded on September 27. Spaces and Shadows with contemporary positions from Southeast Asia will open at the House of World Cultures. Urban Realities: Focus Istanbul and the central show of the first Berlin Festival of Photography will be on view at Martin-Gropius-Bau while Kuenstlerhaus Bethanien hosts the group show Helsinki School - A New Approach amongst others. The Vanity of Allegory curated by Douglas Gordon at the Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin and the solo exhibition of Katharina Sieverding which opens during the fair at KW - Institute for Contemporary Art are further highlights of the autumn season. Until the end of September, Goya - Prophet of Modernity will be on view at Berlin's beautifully restored Alte Nationalgalerie, while sculptures of Joerg Immendorff take over the spacious upper hall of Mies van der Rohe's Neue Nationalgalerie from mid-September onwards.

An extensive VIP Program and exciting panel discussion events dedicated to topics pertinent to the international art scene further combine to make ART FORUM BERLIN 2005 an influential and not be missed international event in September for collectors, curators and lovers of contemporary art.
