The "ASTRA" National Museum is located in the center of Romania, in Sibiu, and it is the most important ethno-museum institution in the country. The Open Air Museum spreads across a 96 ha area. Its exhibition is the largest is the largest open air ethnographic exhibition in Europe.
"ASTRA" Museum in Sibiu was inaugurated in 1963. It has nowadays over 400 monuments of folk architecture and an extraordinary and appreciated collection of ethnographic heritage objects.
The open air museum hosts many events like traditional fairs, folk festivals, workshops, performances and much more. In the wooden church there are kept religious ceremonies specific to Romanian tradition and faith.
The beautiful natural landscape makes the ASTRA Museum adequate during both summer and winter for educational visits, relaxing walks, drives by carriage, sleigh or sailing.
Visitors can taste traditional food from the delicious Romanian cuisine at the arranged innes and their children can take painting or other practical lessons or play on the supervised playground.
