Don McCullin, a well known photographer of conflict, has nowadays the reputation of a great traveller. Many remoter parts of the globe are now familiar to the author of the book called "Southern Frontiers: A Journey Across the Roman Empire", like the war zones that he explored.
One of his most ambitious journey has been the exploration of the fringes of the Roman Empire.
The Southern Frontiers, divided in two parts, The Levant and the Moghreb, are pictured in this printed story of McCullin's in high quality, being evocative for this book that is produced in an appropiate large album format.
The texts on each of the sites have been written by an authority on the Roman empire, Barnaby Rogerson. The book includes an introduction by McCullin.
