The famous Victoria and Albert Museum is presenting the troubled era of the 1960s in an interesting exhibition, focusing on the fashion of the time by means of various items, examples, magazines and various sources of information. The sixties forever changed the face of the 20th century, as it was a time of turmoil on a social, political and especially cultural level. After a long time and after recovering from the destruction of the WW2, Britain began regaining it's power, and it's youth had the opportunity to once again enjoy freedom.
To much of the Conservative public surprise, UK's most influential exports would be pop music and, of course, fashion. Fashion was the new power, as it transcended the boundaries of countries, gendre and politics. And the designers provoked a real explosion in the way the young generation perceived the world around them. Everything was rebelious, full of life and color, clothes were produced in astounding quantities and many models, and their creators became celebrities and idols. No place was better at that time that fashion boutiques, always crowded by young men and women.
The exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum is trying to recreate this splendid epoch in the history of modern England.
