Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium are hosting between 14 of September 2007 - 27 of January 2008 an important exhibition dedicated to the works of Rubens. The museum has a varied and remarkable collection of over 50 works produced by Rubens or in collaboration with other artists and disciples. The most important still are the works created together by the masters in Antwerp : Rubens, Jan Brueghel the Elder, Cornelis de Vos.
This collection, which comprises paintings, some sketches and a few altar pieces, has been carefully prepared for the exhibition "Rubens, a Genius at Work", in order for art lovers to be able to understand how the great master worked and trained, which were the values that he held dear and what themes atracted him the most. The presentation focuses the most productive period in Rubens' life (1614 - 1640), during which his workshop in Antwerp became the place of masterpieces.
In order for the collection to shine the Brussels musem will be presenting, starting on September 14 2007 an exhibitions showcasing this rather unknown treasures, some of them ignored even by the specialists. Museum's experts have carefully examined this collection, discovering some rather surprinsing pieces. Other than the works already in collection, several Rubens compositions have been loaned from several important museums around the world, such as the MET in New York or the Louvre Museum in Paris.
