The Romanian Cultural Institute in New York salutes the participation of Nobel laureate HERTA MȔLLER in PEN World Voices RCINY is happy to salute Herta Müller's participation in this edition of the PEN World Voices Festival, marking her first NYC public appearance in over a decade, one not to be missed by literature lovers. The Nobel laureate will read her Göteborg address in "Herta Müller on Silence" at the Deutsches Haus on May 3. The following day she be interviewed by acclaimed writer Claire Messud, at the 92nd Street Y Poetry Center, after a reading from her novel "The Hunger Angel," recently published by Metropolitan Books. The Swedish Academy described 2009 Nobel Laureate Herta Müller as a writer “who, with the concentration of poetry and the frankness of prose, depicts the landscape of the dispossessed.”
Translated into over 40 languages, her works have received worldwide acclaim for their unflinching portrayals of the corrosive effect of political oppression on the human spirit.
