For RCI – London, films are a priority in terms of the cultural events. The offer is very large, from silent films to the most recent award-winning films.
The Way I Spent the End of the World can be seen at the Romanian Cinematheque of RCI, on December 14, 2011 at 7 pm. The screening will be followed by a Skype Q&A session with award-winning director Catalin Mitulescu and film journalist Edward Lawrenson.
The film is the spectacular story of a 17-year-old girl Eva and her 7 year old brother, Lalalilu. The entire adventura began one day when Eva and her boufriend accidentally broke a bust of Ceausescu. Eva is expelled from school and transferred to a correction centre. She meets Andrei and they decide to escape Romania, crossing the Danube river. Lalalilu believes that Eva leaves the country because of Ceausescu and devises a plan to kill the dictator.
The film was awarded „Un Certain Regard” for the Best Actress at Cannes 2006 and „Best European Project” at Sundance Film Festival 2006.
