On June 30th 2008 Romanian rock fans will have the chance of discovering one of the best, most original, influential and respected bands of the genre - Queensryche. A legend of progressive metal, with complicated and fascinating songs, which first appeared under the name Mob, at the beginning of the 80s, when it played mainly Judas Priest and Iron Maiden covers.
Later, after the success of "The Warning", which showed that Queensryche was becoming more and more a progressive band - and would prove to be one of the best - the band was increasingly popular. Their recordings were selling better, their shows were impressive displays of musical talent, and in a short while they were considered to be one of the hottest new bands. The big success came with Operation Mindcrime, a conceptual album which was an astounding success, as it combined great musical phrases, a strange and poetical story, strong and longlasting images. After several other albums, having their own musical identity and style and an "army" of devoted fans, Queensryche once again returned to their first concept album, with Operation Mindcrime II.
The band will be playing Operation Mindcrime I and II, full, live, on 20th of June 2008 at the Arenele Romane in Bucharest, and this progressive masterpiece is surely to be one of the most important shows of this year. Or even this decade. Already the tickets are almost sold-out and the Romanian fans of the band, as well as casual listeners, are preparing for an experience to be remembered.
The idea of playing both of these complicated and beautiful album is a challenge for the band, but judging by the previous performances, the fans are in for a treat.
