For the second year running, Polirom Publishing House (Iasi) is giving three writer's scholarships to three important Romanian authors, this time the three being Radu Aldulescu, Matei Florian and Livia Rosca. The first will receive a scholarship in the amount of 2000 Euros, the second 1500 Euro and the third 1000 euro. While the first, Radu Aldulescu, is already a respected and experienced author, the other two have made their debut in the last two years. Matei Florian has written the novel "Baiuteii" (together with his brother, Filip Florian), published with great success by Polirom in 2006, while Livia Rosca published her first poetry volume, "Ruj pe icoane", at the Cartea Romaneasca publishing house.
Last year the winners of the writer’s scholarships were Filip Florian, Ioana Bradea and Dan Sociu. This scholarships, some of the extremelly few offered to Romanian authors, tend to become not only a reward, but also an important distinction, a proof of value and talent. And, who knows, maybe over the next years the value of these scholarships would increase, as it is only natural.
