Pitesti is a city in southern Romania, on the banks of river Arges, and according to the latest statistics it has around 300.000. Due to it's relative proximity to the country's capital, Bucharest (around 100 km) and also to it's economica importance and size, the city of Pitesti has developped rapidly in the last decades and nowadays is one of the most important in the region.
You will like Pitesti also for it is called by many the "city of tulips", as all kinds of tulips are planted all around in the city, and when they blossom it is a real display of colours and shapes, which makes the places very nice. There are quite a few museums in Pitesti - the County Museum, the Museum of Vineyards and Orchards, some art galleries, the Liviu Rebreanu Memorial House, The Art Museum, the History Museum. Of special interest is also the Naïve Art Gallery, with some surprinsing exhibits. Surely, everyone of these museums is worthy of a visit, for they have great collections, real diverse, good curators and interesting permanent and temporary exhibitions.
Around Pitesti you will also find some interesting tourist attractions, starting with one of the oldes and most historically significant cities, Curtea de Arges. World renowned for it's monastery, as it is one of the most beautiful in Europe, a place of legends, past and myths. It's architecture is simply stunning and you won't regret coming here.
