The National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh is hosting until the end of October one of the best exhibitions dedicated to the art of Pablo Picasso, presenting some of the finest works from a rather unknown phase in his career, between 1947 - 1961. Although it was not such a popular phase for the general audience, it was a time of great significance in his life.
During these years, the artist lived in southern France, working in Vallauris and Cannes, and the curators have chosen over one hundred works and objects, ranging from ceramics to metalworks, paintings and litographies, being the first significant Picasso exhibition presented in UK in the last decade. Also, several personal objects and photographs have been selected.
Besides being a presentation of Picasso's works and personal objects, it is also a trek into the artist's private life and his relationships with important French artists, such as Jean Cocteau or Georges Braque or other creators of his time, like the photographer Lee Miller or the painter, historian and poet Roland Penrose.
