Perugia is one of the places from the Umbria region that should be visited. It is located in the center of Italy, it’s the capital of the Umbria region and it is known as the “Green heart of Italy”. It is a lively medieval hill town, with historic and modern buildings, beautiful squares and modern shops.
Perugia is famous for it’s restaurants with delicious food and chocolate desserts. Every year there is organized a chocolate festival: Eurochocolate. Among the many festivals and events, Perugia is offering classes for students from all over the world. The Univerista per Stranieri is very famous and an excellent place to learn Italian.
Perugia has narrow streets along the walls at the edge of town for views of the valley. One of the most important attractions is the heart of Perugia, Piazza IV Novembre. Besides the restaurants, in the centre there is a spectacular fontain, Fontana Maggiore sourounded by the Palazzo dei Priori. The palace has beautiful 13th century frescoes and wooden furniture and it houses the National Art Gallery of Umbria.
