- Paltinoasa Lake, the vegetation and the natural surroundings are meant to guarantee a well deserved relaxation to all the tourists that choose this place as destination.
The dam is located in Prahova county, Romania and was built between 1968 and 1970.
The Doftana Keys are at a few kilometers from the lake, like the Old Church ruins from the village Traisteni or the 100 years old natural pine reservation Glodeasa.
The mountain routes are those marked to the Cazacu Peak, Baiului Mountains or Step Predelus. For tourists that arrive in the Doftana Valley is almost impossible to get bored. There are dozens of sheepfolds where anyone can learn some recipies very old for the cheese preparation, you can make trips and mountain excursions through the surroundings and at night there are organised campfires with spitted lamb and old legends told to those without sleep.
Paltinu dam has a height of 108 metters above the foundation and the total length of the dam's crown is 455 meters.
The dam hosts a 10 MW power hydroelectric central that is equiped with two Francis type turbines.
Paltinu dam serves basicaly to supply Campina and Ploiesti municipalities with drinking water. Alternatively the dam provides water for the irrigation of 9.000 ha in the meadow of the river Prahova, in the Baicoi-Ploiesti area, and also for the sanitation of the river Dambul from Ploiesti.
