After 13 years, the legendary group Queen will launch a new studio album on September 1st 2008, recorded by Brian May, Roger Taylor and the new singer Paul Rodgers. Once again, John Deacon, the former bassist, has chosen not to be a part of the project. It is the first studio album since Made in Heaven, launched in 1995, featuring the last songs ever recorded by the late Freddie Mercury, as well as some older songs, re-recorded. It was the band's best-selling studio album, with over 20 million copies world wide.
The new album, which might be called Cosmos Rocks, will be promoted through a brand new world tour, that will take Queen to 14 countries, starting with Russia (16th of September), then Germany, Poland, Belgium, Italy, France, Hungary, Holland, UK and so on. After that there is a strong possibility for the group to go on a South America tour, returning in all of it's glory after the last two Queen concerts here, for the Rock in Rio festival of 1985.
So far, rumour is that the new album will include the Say It's Not True Single, a Paul Rodger composition called Warboys (A Prayer For Peace) and, surprinsingly, a cover version of an yet unknown song. It will be another first for Queen, as it is the first time that a studio cover version will be released on an album.
