The native house of Nicolae Balcescu is located in a small village in Valcea county, between Pitesti and Ramnicu Valcea on Topolog Valley, village named today after him.
The museum exhibits documents related to the life and work of the historical and political man Nicolae Balcescu, who lived between 1919 - 1852.
He was a leader of the revolution from 1848 in Wallachia.
The memorial heritage contains 9.000 pieces and the library from here has 11.000 background units.
The masonic values collection from this memorial museum contains objects of ritual practice, aprons, scarves, masonic medalsfrom the XIX and XX century, documents and a rich library.
Balcescu was the most luminous figure of the revolution of 1848 in Wallachia. He is the tipe of the revolutionary who understood the way hystory goes and he realized that the true revolution must realy on the peeple's power to express their rights.
