- The beautiful Midi-Pyrenees region mainly covers the mountainous section of the Pyrenees located between France and Spain border.
Also the Midy Pyrenees cover some areas that are remote through Gascony and into the Lot Department from Pyrenees mountains.
Once you arrive in this wonderful part of France you can visit the beautiful landscape from the countryside and also learn something about the history of the north. The Midi-Pyrenees is an extensive region with its each department having a particular appeal and style.
Northern Midi - Pyrenees have two departments. These are Aveyron and Lot. Here you will have the opportunity to visit some towns with an outstanding scenery.
Aveyron department is part of the northern Midi-Pyrenees. Here there are some interesting landscapes sheltered by tha villages of Conques, Belcastel, Entraygues, Estaing, St Eulalie d'Olt and Saint-Come d'Olt.
Also popular are in this area the towns Najac, Sauveterre-de-Rouergue and Villefranche-de-Rouergue.
The largest town is Rodez in this department.
The Lot department includes Rocamadour, Gouffre de Padirac and here you can go on a trip in the nearby village and animal park Gramat.
In this department there is also a valley that bears the same name Lot, an interesting and attractive place you will want and like to see.
Be sure also to visit Autoire and Carennac in the same department.
Central Midi - Pyrenees, recognised by ancient bastide towns and a great coutryside is place where the calm and beautivul landscape makes from this place a perfect destination.
Here you can see Gers, a geographical position similar to Gascony. The towns of Auch and Fleurance are good examples of typical towns of the Gers Region.
Tarn department is well known for Cordes, a medieval town with an outstanding beauty. Also in the southern part of Tarn lays the Regional Natural Park of the Haut-Languedoc.
The southern Midi - Pyrenees, is the wild and dramatic part of the Pyrenees mountains. Very beautiful and with wonderful mountain passes, crashing rivers, cliffs and scenery.
Here you may want to go in short visit to Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, a classified village, the most beautiful one, in the Haute-Garonne department. Also the spa town located in the mountains, at Bagneres-de-Luchon is great place where you can stay and relax for a few days.
