The Hamburger Kunsthalle will open on the 12th of October an exhibition dedicated to the life, works and influence of Max Klinger, thus marking the passing of 150 years since the birth of the artist. It is an unique occasion, for rarely the role played by Klinger in modern art, at the turn of the 20th century, has been explored in an exhibition. Under the inspired title of "A Love. Max Klingers impact on modern art", the curators will present, by means of over 200 artworks - including around 60 paintings and 12 sculptures - the major role and impact that Klinger had on varied movemements, such as Symbolism, Surrealism, Naturalism, Art Nouveau and others. It is the larges Klinger exhibition ever put together. |
Many of the works presented here are on loan from Leipzig, while others come from the Hamburger Kunsthalle own collections, which have a large number of Klinger's works.
