Lucian Freud is not only one of the most important and popular living British artists, but also the grandson of the founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud. The artist was born in Berlin in 1922, but soon afterwards the family emigrated to England, for fear of the Nazi rise to power. After the end of the Second World War, Lucian Freud gradually made his mark on contemporary art.
The Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin will be hosting between 6 June - 2 September an exhibition dedicated to the works of Lucian Freud, starting from the 40's to nowadays. The range of subjects is impressive. From horse races to scenes from the streets of the cities, from selfportraits to nudes, from strange compositions to those that remind of his classical masters, Lucian Freud has tried everything over the years.
