A number of festivals are taking place during the summer of 2012 to showcase London's sporting, artistic, musical and cultural achievements before, during and after the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Children and adults can enjoy days out in London with plenty of live music, dance, theatre, attractions and activities to go for. Over 12 million people attended the London 2012 Festival across the UK. The Festival is now over halfway through its run and the numbers calculated up to the end of July, announced today, show that 9.6 million people have taken part in free events and exhibitions as part of the London 2012 Festival so far.
Visitors and tourists can also participate on outdoor theatre, circus, music and dance, film screenings and a rich programme of live performances to keep all ages happy.
Another great festival is the Edinburgh International Book Festival. The event will mark the 50th anniversary celebration of the seminal 1962 Edinburgh writers’ conference, which brought together some of the most important writers of the 20th century.
