On October 19 RCI New York will present an unique concert at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Great works of master pianist and composer Dinu Lipatti will be performed by some of the most acclaimed young Romanian musicians: pianists Vlad Iftinca and Matei Varga, joined by soprano Laura Tatulescu.
Dinu Lipatti (1917 - 1950) is one of the greatest pianists of all times. He died as he was only 33 years old and left behind only a few recordings of his unique playing. He is still a role model for every young talented pianist of our days.
To my great surprise, more than sixty years after his death, no one has recorded (or even performed) all these beautiful pieces, testimonies of his great talent as a composer, not just a pianist. His writing is graceful yet challenging, polished yet completely spontaneous, and one can sense a very personal style (perhaps not fully developed) shining through.
(Matei Varga)
