For over a millenium the city of Kyoto was the capital city of Japan. Since that times the city has the reputation of an outstanding beautiful city. The first impressions are those of the urban sprawl from the central Kyoto. Here is built a train station that was created by following the rules of the modern architecture. It is a train station made only by glass and steel.
The modern world is combined with the old traditions from the architecture of the new buildings to the parks wich ring the city center.
Kyoto is sheltered by the Western Honshu mountains, with a great historical importance since the times when this city was the capital of Japan. It also was the the residence of the Emperor untill the Meiji Restoration from 1868.
Here can admire the Nijo Castle site, the former residence of the shoguns.
Arashiyama is another interesting place with historical and natural wonders that can not be seen everywhere else in Japan.
Higashiyama is an area with lots of attractions; visitors can see the geisha district of Gion and many historic sites strug alongside the Philosopher's Path.
