Kawachi Fuji Garden is one of the most beautiful places on earth. This beautiful garden is located in Kitakyushu, Japan, at 5 hours from Tokyo with speed train. The tunnel of Wisterias is an installation that runs a hundred yards long and, in the Spring, is one of the most visited places in Japan. With 20 different species and varieties of flowers on exhibit, the garden pulls huge crowds of nature lovers towards it.
The entire tunnel ceiling has been covered up with the wisteria bloom and is well maintained during the blooming period of late springs and early summers. The tunnel greets you at the entrance and leads you to the interiors of the park. Covered up in a mind blowing colorful array of wisteria, hanging from the top, the serenity of this tunnel cannot be described in words. With colors ranging from blue, pink, violet, purple and white, the clusters of these spiral flowers gives the entire tunnel a rich and royal look. Pedestrians find comfort from the sun in the dappled shade inside the tunnel and stop to appreciate the interesting shadow patterns on the pathway floor.
Make sure to visit in the Spring, during the "Fuji Matsuri," or "Wisteria Festival," when the magical tunnel is in full bloom. Arrive at any other time of year, and its appearance will be a disheartening mass of lifeless, twisted branches. With the blooming period of most of the species being the months of April and May, a visit to this garden should be done in the last two weeks of April and the beginning of May. Wisteria Festival takes place every year, during the last week of April.
