"Between Picasso and Dubuffet. The Jean Planque Collection" is the new exhibition hosted by the Fine Art Museum in Bilbao, starting on September 17, bringing together around 130 works from the legendary collection of Jean Planque (1910 - 1998), a Swiss art lover who was admired by his contemporaries for his passion of painting. For a while Planque was also an assessor of the Beleyer Art Gallery in Basel, where he put all of his knowledge and work in studying, promoting and collecting art.
The number, variety and importance of the artists whose works will be featured in this show is by all means impressive : Pierre Bonnard, Paul Cezanne, Edgar Degas, Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Jean Dubuffet, Paul Gauguin, Juan Gris, Paul Klee, Fernand Leger, Manolo Millares, Claude Monet, Pablo Palazuelo, Pablo Picasso, Odilon Redon, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Georges Rouault, Antoni Tapies, and Vincent Van Gogh. Enough for anyone to start a small, but rich, museum.
