Lisa (Reese Witherspoon) is a woman whose athletic ability is the passion of her life. She is cut from the team and not knowing what to do she stumbles toward regular life. Lisa begins a fling with Matt (Owen Wilson), a baseball picher, a narcissist.
Before Lisa’s relationship with Matt takes root, she meets George (Paul Rudd), a businessman whose relationship with his father (Jack Nicholson) takes a turn, when he is accused of a financial crime.
