Alain Delon, a magnetic handsome performer, was among the most prominent French actors and one of the Cesar Award winners. He was born in Sceaux on November 8, 1935 and as a child was sent away to many boarding schools because of his bad behavior. His parents divorced when he was only four. Alain joined the marines when he was only 17 years old.
Between 1953 - 1954 he served as a fusilier marin in the first Indochina War. Upon his discharge he returned to Marseilles. His friend the actor Jean - Claude Brialy invited him 1957 at the Cannes Film Festival. Alain Delon was a very good looking man, delicate and enigmatic, so he received offeres for different roles. His debute as an actor was in 1957 in the movie Quand la femme s’en mele, directed by Yves Allegret. Since then he starred in over 80 films guided by famous directors and great producers.
Alain Delon became a cinema star in 1960 when he starred in the film Plein Soleil. Between 1962 - 1963 three of the films in which he appeared recived the Special Price at the Cannes Film Festival. The Guepard by Visconti won the Golden Palm in Cannes and Melodie en sous-sol by Verneuil was rewarded with the Golden Globe.
Before his apparence in the Tulip noir he met Francine Canovas, they married and had a son, Anthony Delon. Their marriage was short, they divorced a few years later in 1968.
Alain Delon directed and produced his own films, which won many Cesar Awards. He worked with great actors during his entire career. In 1998 he worked with Jean Paul Belmondo for the film Une chance sur deux with Vanessa Paradis. In 1999, before the end of his glorious career, he accepted to appear in Les Acteurs and paid homage to Gabin, Ventura, Montand, Signoret and de Funes.
Alain Delon is an art but also a sport lover. He has a spectacular collection of various works. In France he organized the World Boxing Championship. He also created a racing team with which he won the title of World Champion.
