The show "Global Cities", hosted by the Tate Modern in London, is a new and inteligent presentation of the changes that affect ten important and dynamic important cities of the world : Cairo, Istanbul, Johannesburg, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Mumbai, Sao Paulo, Shanghai and Tokyo. The artists selected for the show are examining each of the cities, and the results are presented to the public in five distinct thematic sections : speed, size, density, diversity and form.
The core of the exhibits come from the data originally prepared for 10th International Architecture Exhibition at the 2006 Venice Biennale. The show is presenting works - film, video, photography - created by more than 20 artists and architects, a wide range of interpretations and visions, both subjective and intimate, depicting the rapid changes in the cities chosen.
