The George Cosbuc Memorial House can be found in Cosbuc, Bistrita Nasaud, and is one of the most important literary museums of Romania, very popular among tourists, both Romanian and foreign. It is the very house where Cosbuc was born, on September 20th 1866, and the three rooms are just as in the past, keeping alive the charm and customs of 19th century rural Romania. Also, of great interest in the collection displayed here, as all of the objects are original, ranging from personal objects and memorabilia to photographs, documents, letters, manuscripts and the likes. It is the only musuem dedicated especially to the poet.
Opened in 1905, it is one of the first literary museum of Romania. In the last hall visitors have a chance of admiring some of the 30.000 books that made Cosbuc's collection in the past. Some of the titles are very rare editions, which are surely the envy of anyone who is a book collector.
