The Hungarian National Museum in Budapest it's bringing to the present, in one of it's latest exhibitions, the power and legends of the Mongol Empire and it's powerfull and feared hordes, led by Genghis Khan. After successful presentations in Bonn, Munich, Schallarburg and Istanbul, the exbition "Genghis Khan and his Heirs" offers the chance for Hungarian art and history lovers to discover the story of Mongolia, from it's beginnings to the 20th century. To do that, visitors will see an impressive selection of Mongolian art, from private collections and European museums, a whole of over five hundred exhibits. The exhibition in Budapest, compared to the others in Bonn or Munich, has several important objects from the museum's and Hungarian private collections.
It was over eight centuries ago that a new nomadic power appeared in the steppe, and under the leadership of Genghis Khan the Mongol tribes created a Mongol Empire, conquering Russia, Persia, Asia Minor, Korea, Indonesia, China, bringing fear in all those who heard their name. At the summit of their development, it was one of the most important and largest empires in history.
