Biography
Savage was born in Glencoe, Illinois to Jewish American parents Lew Savage, a real estate agent, and Joanne, a housewife; his brother is actor Ben Savage. He graduated from Stanford University, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, in 1999 with a degree in English.
Career
Savage began his acting career at the age of 4, in 1980, in the film Dinosaur. His first kiss was as an actor in the series The Wonder Years. The show also led to his being the youngest person ever to be nominated for an Emmy Award for outstanding leading performer, also allowed him to be one of the youngest hosts of Saturday Night Live.
His most famous roles are in the movies The Princess Bride and The Wizard and on the two television series The Wonder Years and Working. He appeared as "The Mole" in Austin Powers in Goldmember and guest starred on Boy Meets World, which starred his brother Ben.
In the 1989 film Little Monsters, Savage played the son of Daniel Stern's character. Stern acted as Savage's interior monologue on The Wonder Years.
Fred Savage is currently a co-director of several children/teen programs on Nickelodeon and Disney. In January 2006, he began his starring role in the ABC comedy Crumbs.
Private life
He married his childhood sweetheart, Jennifer Stone, on August 7, 2004. The two were wed at the L'Orangerie restaurant in Los Angeles, California. They are expecting their first child in August 2006.
Savage also plays on the World Poker Tour in the Hollywood Home games for the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles charity.
