One of the best Elvis impersonators in Quebec, Gaetan Lalonde of St-Jerome, believes that he has broken his own Guiness record for the second time, singing Elvis songs for two days, nonstop. It might sound impressive, but Lalonde has already set two world record for this kind of exploit. In 2004 he sang the King's tunes for 42 hours and 30 minute, and a year later he broke his previous record, singing for 44 hours and one minute.
This time, he sang a playlist of 44 tunes over the course of 46 hours and 30 minute, and he's now expecting the decision of the Guiness World Records officials. The concert took place in Delson, a suburb near Montreal. He was allowed a 15 minute break every four hours and kept fit by drinking energy drinks and drastically limiting his food. His playlist was a mix between slower songs and ballads and faster, more rock and roll tunes such as Jailhouse Rock.
A medical team was present at the spot, but fortunatelly Lalonde held his ground. The Elvis fan and impersonator was not only interested in breaking once again his own record. The event was staged as a fundraiser for local underprivileged children, and the artist quickly raised several thousand dollars.
