Elena Popea is one of the most appreciated artists by a minority of experts, but unfortunately unknown to the public. The things we know about her aren’t very much and the little we know depends of source.
We certainly know that she lived and stayed more in abroad, especially in Paris, spending most of her time traveling. She sent her paints also in Romania for exposing them at the Official Halls of Bucharest. But she didn’t forget about France, her name is now in the catalogues at the Jeu de Palme Museum Paris.
Elena Popea sent some paintings also to London at the Claridge Galleries, being recognized by some critics a successor of Cezanne. Mostly self-taught painter, Elena Popea has studied in Paris and Germany, being very open-minding at new experiments and influences, such as the eastern orientation from the last part of her creation.
