Monastery in Durau, Romania
Durau resort is situated in Neamt County, at an altitude of 780-800 meters, in a sunny glade at the foot Ceahlau Mountains, 6 km south-west of the village Ceahlau, 9 km west of Lake Spring Mountain accumulation on the river Bicaz and 60 km northwest of the city of Piatra Neamt.
In Durau resort can be reached from the city Bicaz DN 15 and from Targu Neamt DN 15B.
There is a historical monument raised in 1835 by the metropolitan Veniamin Costache and the buiding was decorated with murals, made by painter Nicolae Tonitza in 1935.
Durau resort has become in recent years the most common base of departure for trips in Ceahlau. Mountain trails are easy ways to cascade Duruitoarea or to the Fantanele Chalets (1240 m high) and Dochia (1870 m high).
For a wonderful mountain climbing, have to go through the woods and then climb some stairs and you get to Fantanele. There are a natural pool, food shops and a souvenirs shop. There is also a terrace not too large. Fresh air of the forest makes you walk and enjoy the many things llike, for example you could collect mushrooms, with carefully naturally.
