After the astounding success of their previous Romanian concert, the members of the legendary group Depeche Mode have announced officially that they will be returning to Bucharest next year, in 2009, for a new concert. The show will take place of may 16th 2009 in the Izvor Park in the capital of Romania, and will be a part of the new worldtour, "Tour of the Universe 2009", meant to promote the next studio album, not yet released. It will be the 12th studio album in the history of the band and is bound to continue the changes visible on their last album, "Playing the Angel", which marked a very successful comeback.
The next worldtour will include 28 cities in 22 countries, and will start on May 10th in Tel Aviv, Israel, Bucharest being the first East European capital to be graced by the presence and music of Depeche Mode. According to the band, this tour will be the biggest and most expensive yet, and the organizers hope to attract more than 1.3 million spectators in Europe alone. The tickets for the Bucharest show will be on sale starting with October 27th, but members of the Romanian Depeche Mode Fan Club will have the opportunity to pre-order, in 20 - 26 October.
The second Depeche Mode concert in Romania will most likely be one of the main musical events in 2009, maybe the biggest one, as so far no "contender to the throne" has been announced. And it will take a pretty important act and musician to surpass a Depeche Mode show.
