Biography

Arquette was born in Winchester, Virginia. His father was the late actor Lewis Arquette, and his grandfather was the late comic actor Cliff Arquette, best remembered for his "Charley Weaver" character, a fixture on the original Hollywood Squares; his mother, Mardi Nowak, was Jewish. His siblings Patricia, Rosanna, Alexis and Richmond are all actors.

Arquette is married to actress Courteney Cox from the former TV show Friends, and the Scream movies. He married her on June 12, 1999. Their first child, a daughter named Coco Riley Arquette, was born on June 13, 2004

Film career

David achieved his biggest success in the slasher horror trilogy Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1998) and Scream 3 (2000) as Deputy Dewey. He also met his wife Courteney Cox on the set. They have also appeared together in a Coke advertisement on TV in 2003. The two are currently executive producers for the TBS series Daisy Does America.

Professional wrestling

Arquette is much disliked by professional wrestling fans, after he won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship on April 25, 2000 in an effort to promote his wrestling-based movie, Ready to Rumble. The storyline was hugely unpopular; even though Arquette himself was a wrestling fan, he reportedly thought it was a bad idea. He was eventually convinced to do the stunt by head booker Vince Russo. Arquette quietly donated the entirety of his WCW salary to the families of the late Brian Pillman, Owen Hart, and Brian Hildebrand. He even gave some to Droz, who suffered a career-ending injury during a match with D'Lo Brown, and who is a long-time employee of WCW's then-rival, World Wrestling Entertainment.

Entrance music

We're Not Gonna Take It was sung and recorded by Bif Naked for the now-defunct WCW professional wrestling promotion 2000 comedy movie, Ready to Rumble.

During Arquette's short run in WCW, Arquette used We're Not Gonna Take It as his entrance theme.

Professional wrestling trivia
During Arquette's short run in WCW, on WCW Thunder, April 25, 2000, in Syracuse, Arquette won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in a special tag team match, pitting Arquette and Diamond Dallas Page against Jeff Jarrett and Eric Bischoff. The stipulation was that whoever got the pin would become the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Arquette was able to pin Eric Bischoff and win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

During Arquette's short run in WCW, Arquette was among two non-wrestlers to hold the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, the other non-wrestler was Vince Russo.

During a 2002 episode of WWE RAW, Arquette sat behind announcers Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross for the entire show while holding a sign reading "Former WCW Champion."

During a live televised event of SmackDown! in Los Angeles, California, during The Invasion storyline, where  WWE was fighting an invasion from the now-defunct professional wrestling promotions, WCW and ECW. David Arquette, Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins and Arnold Schwarzenegger were all in attendance at the event in one night. Arquette was a former WCW talent, Corgan was a loyal ECW supporter and Schwarzenegger had always been a WWE supporter. WWE showed each one of them on screen. Arquette was wearing a mask and then ripping it off to show who he was.
